To establish and build a strong and successful art department here at Pleasant Grove Elementary.

To encourage creative and critical thinking, communication, and collaboration with a personal fulfillment in the visual arts.

To encourage all students to take "creative risks" without worrying about mistakes, emphasizing problem-solving with an attitude in imagining, and inventing.

To nurture the students' expression and creativity through cross-curricular connections in order to develop deeper knowledge.

To transmit an appreciation, understanding, and an awareness of artistic heritage/art history in our society and others.

To introduce students to the knowledge of all basic art forms and their functions with the comprehension of the principles and elements of design.
